The Dream Center School Food Fundraising Campaign

$100 of $15,000 raised

A daily meal is not always a reality for many school going children in Mowlem, Dandora and Kayole areas – one of poorest urban areas East of Nairobi, Kenya. Thousands of children go to bed hungry at night, and thousands attend school hungry the next morning. Tardiness and absenteeism due to hunger is a daily struggle for the students.

The problem is compounded because a high percentage of these children are orphaned, while others have parents living with HIV and other chronic diseases and struggle to make ends meet.

To these hungry children, navigating the issues of daily life can often be overwhelming, and the future may seem hopeless. The gift of a nutritious meal is a gift of life and hope.

The School Feeding Initiative feeds approximately 900 children a nutritious breakfast and lunch giving them the energy and nutrients they need to learn and grow.

The School Feeding program will not only help to improve the children’s nutrition and overall health, but will also help raise attendance, end tardiness, and increase enrollment.

However, the cost of sustaining this program is increasing by the day due to the high costs of living and that’s why we’re asking for your help to ensure that these children don’t go hungry.

Despite the successes of the program, the cost of common foodstuff items continues to rise, making it increasingly difficult for the school to sustain the important service to the children. Many of the children look forward to the school meal, especially during these tough economic times when most households cannot afford a meal every day. We cannot let them go hungry.
